Growing up in an environment marred by addiction, substance abuse, and physical abuse, I intimately understood the chilling reality of living in a home wrought with turmoil. The pain of uncertainty, the fear of becoming a punching bag, and the desperate search for safety led me to a haunting familiarity with the darkness that clouds the lives of those facing homelessness.

I vividly recall tear-streaked mornings, witnessing lines of people at dawn, all vying for a bed and a meal. And when I sought refuge myself, fleeing to a house for battered women, the reality was starkly different from the solace I sought. Instead, it offered only cold, sterile walls teeming with roaches—an environment devoid of the warmth and comfort so desperately needed.

But within those challenging moments lay the seeds of my unwavering determination. I carried a profound passion, patiently awaiting the opportune moment to transform my dream into a sanctuary—a place of solace for those in dire need.

The turning point arrived when I found myself seeking shelter, yearning for a haven from my own storm.
